What Year was the Art Made?
This photograph was taken on August 14, 1945.
Describe what is going on in the artwork.
In this photo an American sailor grabbed a complete stranger, nurse, that was walking past him in Times Square and kissed her because he was so excited about the end of WW II. The photographer, Eisenstaedt, was known for his ability to capture memorable images of important people. He used a Leica 35mm camera and film to take his photos.
I am not one hundred percent convinced that this photo was spontaneous. He would had to have already set his camera to shoot the right exposure and he had to be walking past at the exact same time that this kiss happened. I'm not convinced that all these things aligned at the exact same time that he was in time square, but this photos is still an amazing photo.
